For example, as Chief Marketing Officer for MULTIVOICE, he led the renaming, rebranding and new marketing and corporate communications efforts for the firm from Fall 2014 through Spring 2016. Prior to joining MULTIVOICE, David was CMO for Xi3 Corporation, an emerging startup he helped grow from 4 to 100 employees within three years.

David’s first book — 66 RULES for Publicity Success: Boost Your Company’s Value for Pennies on the Dollar — was published in October 2016. Although anyone working in marketing or public relations can benefit from his book, the goal of 66 RULES for Publicity Success is to help entrepreneurs, inventors, business owners, scientists and others learn how to apply Publicity RULES to their advantage, specifically with their inventions and firms.
One of the more interesting aspects of David’s career is his ongoing effort to observe, chronicle and support the successful efforts of Utah’s high-tech businesses and technologists in order to help make technology and science an everyday part of life in modern society. To do this, he began writing “Utah Tech Watch,” a self-syndicated column that began at The Daily Herald and quickly expanded from semi-weekly to weekly status. In less than a year, Utah Tech Watch was carried by two other Utah papers: The Enterprise (the Salt Lake-based business weekly) and the Deseret News. Over time, David added email distribution of the column to interested parties.
At its height during the 10-year-span from mid-1994 to mid-2004, Utah Tech Watch had a weekly circulation of roughly 140,000 readers and reached an estimated audience each week of over 280,000. His ability to make technical matters easily understood by the general public also made him a favorite among local journalists, many of whom often turned to David for on-the-record comments on topics ranging from computer viruses to the technology heavy NASDAQ Stock Market.
David regularly delivers presentations and speeches on various marketing and business topics at universities, colleges and conferences before audiences as large as 5,000 people. He also taught an “Introduction to Public Relations” course for five semesters as an Adjunct Professor at Brigham Young University and at BYU’s Salt Lake Center.
